Directions for use:
Application: Ideal for planting out new plants and bulbs, improving soil’s physical structure and properties. Excellent for heavy (clayed) and light (sandy) soils. Culterra Mushroom Compost is ideal for increasing soil pH. Culterra Mushroom Compost is alkaline in nature and therefore should not be used with plants required acid soil conditions. Rather use Culterra Acid Compost.
Application rate:
For new plants:
- Dig a hole twice as wide and deep as the root ball.
- Loosen the soil a further 150mm deep.
- Mix CulterranMushroom Compost 1:1 with the soil removed from the hole.
- Add a layer of Culterra Mushroom Compost soil mix to the bottom of the hole and insert the plant.
- Fill with more of the mix and press slightly.
- The plant should be at the right level as it was originally grown and at the same level as the surrounding soil. Keep the plant upright and tread the soil firmly working away from the plant stem.
- Rim the edge of the hole with Culterra Mushroom Compost soil mix and fill with water until the rootball and Culterra soil mix are thoroughly soaked.
For beds:
- For heavy soils (clayed): In Autumn apply an 80mm-100mm layer of Culterra Mushroom Compost to the surface of the soil. During Spring work into a depth of 150mm-200mm with a garden fork.
- For light soils (sandy): During Spring, apply an 80mm-100mm layer of Culterra Mushroom Compost to the surface and work into a depth of 150mm-200mm with a garden fork.
